SCENES: The Exhibition
Curated by Quah Sy Ren and designed by Singapore’s leading architect Tan Kay Ngee and his team, SCENES: The Exhibition (part of the Huayi 2010 festival) is an overview on the history and development of our national Chinese language theatre amidst the emergence of a national consciousness and other socio-political-economic changes.
Noting the copious amount of artifacts (books, newspapers, brochures and various other theatre-related paraphernalia), we set about creating a graphic identity that not only complimented the exhibition design, but tied the entire historical narrative of Chinese Theatre through the use of moving colour.
Colour bands were chosen to represent the different decades, with greys for the 1910s, right to bright pink for the current decade, with pink derived from the existing Huayi 2010 identity.
The exhibition runs till 28 Feb 2010, at the Esplanade. Details here.
