Picasso: The Vollard Suite

To create a set of collaterals to showcase the work of Picasso’s series of prints, commissioned by Vollard.

Given the subject matter, we decided to go for a classic identity. Texture of the printed matter were of utmost importance, to reflect the preciousness of Picasso’s prints. We wanted something that was heavy to the touch. In the end, we chose a thick and slightly rough wood-free paper, similar to print-making papers. This thick woodfree paper was printed with a slight tint to offset its whiteness. A lot of care was taken into balancing the white space and text, which turned out to be a good typography exercise for us.
